Unemployment rates slightly rose locally last month, according to county-by-county data released by Iowa Workforce Development this week.

In Marion County, 2.2% unemployment was reported in October, slightly higher than the 2% reported in September. There are 18,090 individuals working, and 410 receiving benefits and seeking work. One year ago, the rate was 2.5% locally.

In Warren County, 2.5% unemployment was reported in October, slightly up from 2.4% in September. The number of employed residents is at 27,600 and 700 individuals are considered unemployed but seeking work. One year ago, the rate was 2.8% locally.

Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was at 3.9% last month, down slightly from September and an improvement from 4.2% in 2020.
