A former Pleasantville police officer has been arrested again. 24-year-old Alec Veatch was arrested Tuesday after new charges of sexual assault of a minor causing serious injury, enticing a minor, lascivious acts with a minor, and assault with intent to cause injury were brought forth by the Iowa DCI. Veatch was previously arrested at his Norwalk home on similar charges, and released from the Jasper County Jail after posting a $17,000 bond.
Authorities tell KNIA/KRLS News there is one minor female victim. While Veatch was an officer with the Pleasantville Police Department, he hosted a ride-along with the victim, which ended around midnight November 12th. Between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m., Veatch and the victim exchanged phone calls and text messages to discuss a plan to meet up again. Veatch devised a plan, contacted the victim’s mother, and told her that the victim was a witness to an arrest and needed to be taken to the police department to fill out a witness statement. Veatch returned to the home between 1:30 and 2:00 a.m. to pick up the victim. He brought the victim back to the department at this time.
While at the police department, Veatch is alleged to have kissed and fondled the minor over the minor’s clothing in a sexual manner. Veatch was interviewed by the Iowa DCI, where he admitted he was in a romantic relationship with the minor, knew her age, that he had lied to the minor’s mother, and that he had fondled the minor for sexual purposes. A video of the officer fondling and putting the victim in a chokehold has surfaced from the incident. Veatch was immediately terminated from the department. None of the crimes allegedly committed occurred while Veatch was on duty.
Further charges and details are pending. Arraignment is scheduled for December 27th in Warren County District Court.
