The Knoxville School District is again offering an early retirement package. Business Manager Craig Mobley says the district will offer 50 percent of the employee’s base salary paid into an annuity over three years, with another incentive.

“The second part will be certified staff receiving $200 per day for every day up to a maximum of 120 of accumulated leave they have after their last day of employment. For classified staff, it would be $100 per day. I know it’s completely different, but we’re trying to incentivize staff to be here at work and to build those days up. When they do retire, there’s a benefit to having those days built up, they’re not just losing those to the district. I know it’s a different formula, but we’ll see how it goes.”

Employees deciding to use this package must notify the district by December 30th. Learn more here.
