Heart of Iowa Conference play for PCM’s girls’ basketball squad will begin next Friday at home against Nevada.
The Mustangs currently sit at 0-2 on the season with losses to two South Central Conference teams, Chariton and Knoxville. PCM currently is averaging 35 points per game in their first two games and have two players averaging double figures. Paige and Addison Steenhoek both have put up 11 points per game through the first two games of the season. The Mustangs’ third-leading scorer is senior Emily Foster, putting in seven points a game. Coach Sami Allison-Rodriguez tells KRLS Sports that she is looking to add more to her offense as the season goes on.
“We’re going to have to find a way. We’re going to have to find a way and get some rhythm on offense. We put a motion in that we are still learning. We have a lot of young kids with not a lot of experience, and that is not an excuse, that is the way it is. I think we’ll get there.
PCM has one more non-conference game before Heart of Iowa Conference play begins. Their next game is Thursday as part of a girls/boys doubleheader with Montezuma.
