The Pella Wrestling team will begin competition in a year in which they aim to build on the success of one of the best seasons in program history.

Pella Head Coach Jay Pike knows that path will be difficult if they remain comparing themselves too much to what happened last winter, but at the same time, some of the best individual and team finishes ever recorded for the group last year has the 2021-22 wrestlers excited for what this year can hold.

Pike says they start with a good mix of teams later today in Des Moines and this weekend in Williamsburg.

Matches today at Des Moines Hoover start at 5:30 p.m.
