Two Marion County wrestling squads finished in the top 3 at the Coach Riley Invitational in Nodaway Valley Saturday, as Knoxville finished second while Pleasantville finished third.

The Panthers came away with 182.5 points, finishing second in the invitational behind just Clarinda. Knoxville had two wrestlers finish first in the invitational in their respective weight classes. Marco Ajedo defeated Brayden Maeder of Southwest Valley by decision, 4-0 at 113 lbs. Luke Spaur knocked off Elliot Cooney of Nodaway Valley in the 132 lbs championship match by decision, 8-2. The Panthers also had four wrestlers finish third in their respective weight classes, who were Steven Thome at 120 lbs, Triston Sinnard at 126 lbs, Daniel Gorskikh at 138 lbs and Kale Kincaid at 152 lbs.

The Trojans came away with 136.5 points, finishing 8.5 points ahead of Nodaway Valley. Pleasantville had one athlete place first, who was Tyler Gibson at 126 lbs. He defeated Zackery Gebbie of Nodaway Valley. Kitt Lundy finished second at 138 lbs, being defeated by Jaxon Christensen of Nodaway Valley. Pleasantville also had Caleb Cook at 132 lbs and Trevor Daggett at 195 lbs finish third.

Knoxville’s next meet will be at home as they host the South Central Conference Tournament Thursday night. Pleasantville will be back in action Tuesday night for a quadrangular at Sigourney.
