A non-profit organization to help those in need is located in Warren County, Harvest Academy, helping those with criminal backgrounds, substance use challenges, or experiencing homelessness.
Program Director Braedon Dowty tells KNIA News the comprehensive program offers vocational training, education, peer mentorship, leadership training, and transitional services, and after battling his own substance use challenges in his life, he wanted to stay connected to working on recovery.
“I went into that program in 2016, and I fell in love with it. I just saw how it attacked my character defects in such a straightforward and practical way, and it made me really confront all the parts of myself that I’d been tucking away in my addiction. I loved the idea that I got to help other people through the heartache that I’d been through. I can share my experience and help them work themselves out of their hole.”
