Central College quarterback Blaine Hawkins is the D3football.com All-Region 5 Offensive Player of the Year.

The American Rivers champion Dutch placed 10 players on the all-region teams and Central’s Jeff McMartin was named the region’s coach of the year.

Joining Hawkins on the first team were wide receiver Tanner Schminke, offensive guard Joshua Mayhew and defensive end Hunter Maddy.

Second-team selections were offensive tackle Travis Wagner, kicker Logan Sunvold, defensive tackle Blade Durbala and cornerback Brayden Egli. Running back Jason Hopp and linebacker Josh Van Gysel were named to the third team.

Hawkins shattered the all-divisions NCAA record for season touchdown passes with 63 and also set a new Division III mark with seven touchdown passes in a half at Simpson College Sept. 25, which matches the all-divisions record. He completed 331 of 468 passes (.707) for 4,475 yards with eight interceptions and a school-record 192.05 passing efficiency rating. He broke nearly every school game, season and career passing and total offense record and also set new American Rivers marks for season passing yards and touchdowns in league games.

Hawkins and Durbala were each D3football.com third-team all-region honorees in 2019.

Wheaton College (Ill.) defensive tackle Dallas McRae was selected as the region’s defensive player of the year.

Players nominated for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced Dec. 17.

It’s the first D3football.com honor for McMartin who received AFCA regional coach of the year honors in 2007 and again this year. He piloted the Dutch to a 10-0 regular season and a 12-1 overall mark, reaching the NCAA Division III quarterfinals for the first time since 2007. He’s compiled a 140-43 (.765) record in 18 seasons as Central’s head coach. Central outscored opponents 54.0 to 20.5 for the season and outgained them by an average 570.1 yards to 339.1.
