Sidewalk construction on the Indianola Downtown Square project continues after facing several delays over the past weeks. According to an update, the delays were caused in multiple areas including items being discovered once sidewalk panels were removed, shipping delays, and weather.
Currently, streetlights are starting to be installed, with power installed next week. Because of shipping delays, IMU has ordered some temporary galvanized streetlights that will be replaced once the permanent streetlights are delivered, which is currently scheduled to happen in the spring. Over the next week, street signs and pavement markings will be painted, and blocks will be open as they are completed, and phase 1 of the project is scheduled to be completed over the next three weeks.
