The Knoxville School District’s annual eighth grade trip to Washington, DC will be moved to a new time of year. The scheduled spring trips of 2020 and 2021 were postponed multiple times, and both groups finally got the chance to go last month. Superintendent Cassi Pearson says the students and chaperones enjoyed this trip more than the prior spring trips, and the annual trip will now take place in the fall.

“They found out that going in the fall was actually much better than going over Easter weekend. They had no lines, they were able to get in and see more things, so we’re planning to move our trip to the fall, and the next trip will happen a year from now. Next year will be both the eighth and ninth graders just to make sure none of our students miss that opportunity. After next year’s trip, it’ll go back to being an annual eighth grade trip.”

Students presented their experiences on this year’s trip to the school board at this week’s meeting.
