Work on the downtown Indianola Square Reconstruction Project continues, with an estimated completion date of Phase 1 now set for January 1st. Construction Manager Brian Doser said in an update that while some of the streets have been opened for pedestrian and driving traffic, Salem Ave from Buxton to Howard and Buxton St. from Salem to Ashland will remain closed.

Delays on the project are due to sidewalk replacement and installation work between the curb and sidewalk taking longer than expected, including sidewalk unit pavers, concrete banding, planeter curbs, and seat walls. The plants and trees will not be planted until spring, so while the streets will be open, Phase 1 will not be entirely complete until the plants are in the ground.
