After a year apart due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a program bringing together local first responders, businesses, and families returned to Pella Tuesday evening.

Pella Police Captain Paul Haase says the 5th annual Holiday Heroes program was held back in-person Tuesday at Central Tire and Auto and the Pella Walmart, with the support of Welgaard and several other local businesses and organizations.

Elementary students selected by Pella and Pella Christian guidance counselors went on a shopping trip with police, firefighters–and new this year, ambulance personnel, to shop for gifts for their families and themselves to make Christmas brighter in their households.
