The Knoxville City Council received a presentation on priorities and budgeting for 2022-2023 at its meeting Monday. City Manager Heather Ussery says this is the start of the process, and approval is forthcoming.
“This was our first presentation for our upcoming fiscal year budget. It’s important to give the council an update on some of the projects we’re currently working on, as well as getting some feedback from them as we move forward into the budget process. I gave them a budget timeline. Moving forward, we’ll use the next month and a half to meet with department heads and develop our budget. In early February, we’ll present a recommended budget to the council.”
Areas discussed were the VA campus redevelopment, including a potential location for a splash park; downtown revitalization; business facade improvements with the use of revolving loan funds; hotel/motel and local option sales and service tax usage; and American Rescue Plan fund usage.
