A stabbing occurred in downtown Knoxville Monday morning at the intersection of E Robinson and S 1st Streets. Witnesses say a wounded man stumbled into Helping Hands looking for assistance. Officers arrived and spoke to the victim, who stated that he had been stabbed by 56-year-old Toni Renee Baker. He was transported to the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics and later to a hospital in Des Moines with a wound to the abdomen or chest cavity.

Just after speaking to the victim, officers located Baker and transported her to the Knoxville Police Department for questioning, where she admitted to stabbing the victim during a verbal argument. Baker was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail. She’s charged with Willful Injury, a Class C felony.

Knoxville Fire and Rescue, the Knoxville Police Department, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing and is being assisted by the Iowa DCI.
