The Storm women’s basketball team stayed hot with a blowout win over Buena Vista Wednesday evening in the Cowles Fieldhouse 86-38, while the Storm men couldn’t muster enough offense as they fell 88-74.
The Beavers kept up with the high-flying Storm women in the first quarter as the Storm led just 21-19, but the defense would clamp up for Simpson as they outscored BV 23-7 to lead 44-26 at the halftime break. There was no stopping the Storm offense in the second half, as they put up another 42 points while holding the Beavers to just 12 points to pick up their fourth straight conference win and seventh in a row overall to improve to 12-1 and 4-0 in conference play. Jenna Taylor led the team with 19 points.
The Storm men were playing even with the Beavers until a run in the first half put them on the back foot as they trailed 46-33 at the halftime break. After making several runs themselves to put the game within reach in the second half, the Beavers pulled away and got a led as high as 20 points to salt away the win. Caden Rehmeier led the team with 15 points, as the Storm fall to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in American Rivers Conference play. Both teams travel to Luther on Saturday.
