For the first time since December 13, PCM’s basketball squads will have a doubleheader on the road to open the 2022 calendar year against Heart of Iowa Conference opponent South Hamilton.

The Mustangs’ girls will be looking to get their fourth victory of the season to kick off the 2022 calendar year. PCM lost their final two games before the holiday break, both of them to top-15 opponents in Class 3A, No. 12 West Marshall and No. 10 Roland-Story. The Mustangs split with the Hawks last season, winning the second matchup between the two teams, 33-30 to end the regular season. South Hamilton and PCM are split by a game in the Heart of Iowa Conference standings, as the two teams are fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Mustangs’ boys will hope to continue the momentum they carried into the holiday break, as they have won four of their last five games. PCM also won their first matchup of the 2022 calendar year, trouncing Earlham, 54-30. The Mustangs’ lone loss in their last five games was to No. 14 in Class 2A Roland-Story December 21. PCM was swept last year in the matchups between the two teams with both games decided by single-digits. The Hawks and Mustangs are separated by one game in Heart of Iowa Conference play, with PCM fourth and South Hamilton tied for fifth with Saydel and West Marshall.

The doubleheader gets underway with the girls’ game beginning at 6:00 PM and will be broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com with Alex Koch on the call.
