For just the second time this season, Pleasantville’s basketball squads came away with a West Central Conference sweep as both teams took down Interstate-35.
The Trojans’ girls opened the night with a thrilling close victory over the Roadrunners, winning 43-39. Pleasantville went back and forth with I-35, and came away with a key win. Malorie McKinney led the way in scoring, dropping 16 points. Joelle Johnson came off the bench and scored ten key points. With the win, Pleasantville improves to 8-5 on the season with a 3-4 record in West Central Conference play.
The Trojans’ boys closed the doubleheader with a dominating 67-28 victory over Roadrunners in one of their biggest wins of the season. Mason Scheve spearheaded the attack for Pleasantville, putting up 26 more points and four steals. Andrew Pender and Dayson Leerhoff supported Scheve brilliantly, as they put up 19 points apiece. With the win, Pleasantville improves to 5-4 on the season and a 4-4 West Central Conference record.
Both teams will be back in action for a West Central Conference doubleheader Tuesday night against Earlham. The doubleheader will be broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com.
