The 2022 Iowa Legislative Session begins today, and while the first week remains largely ceremonial in nature, the work will begin soon on priorities, especially for a Republican party with strong majorities in both chambers.

For the final year, District 79 Representative Dustin Hite and District 40 State Senator Ken Rozenboom represent Pella — new districts starting next year moves Hite east and were part of the reason why Rozenboom will retire from the senate.

This week marks the return of committee meetings and joint sessions for speeches from Governor Kim Reynolds and her Condition of the State Address Tuesday, Chief Justice of the Iowa Supreme Court Susan Christensen, and Major General Benjamin J. Corell of the Iowa National Guard.
