The 2022 Iowa Legislative session has convened, with Governor Kim Reynolds presenting the State of the State Address this evening at 6pm. State Senator Julian Garrett tells KNIA News he will be serving on the Appropriations Committee and Chairing the Justice Systems Subcommittee which deals with public safety and law enforcement, which Garrett thinks is one of the most important issues he legislates for.
“In my opinion, public safety and law enforcement is probably the most important function that government has. If you aren’t safe when you are out working and playing and so on, the other things don’t matter a whole lot. That’s number one, safety and security when you go about your business.”
Garrett also said he will be Vice-Chair of the Judiciary Committee and serve on Human Resources, and will prioritize a balanced budget.
