One of the fastest ever Eagles is continuing his athletic career in college. Pella Christian Senior Levi Schelhaas is choosing Dordt University and their track and field program to compete beyond Eagle Lane following graduation this spring.

Schelhaas had a junior season to remember — earning Elite All-State honors from the Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association in the 400 meter dash; Schelhaas ran a 48.53, the 3rd fastest time at the State Meet in 2021 regardless of class, and 2nd in his class. He was also 7th place in the 200 meter dash in Class 2A and broke a P.C. school record with the 3rd place sprint medley relay at state.

Levi is averaging 12.5 points per game (9th in LHC), 3.4 assists per game (5th in LHC), 21 three-pointers made (8th in LHC), and making 80% of his free throws (8th in LHC) as part of the Eagles boys basketball team currently ranked 5th in 2A and 9-3 overall. They return to action at home Friday vs. Norwalk, which can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS and the Pella Christian High School YouTube stream.

Hear from Schelhaas on this week’s Radio Sports Page, which airs every Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Thursday at 10 a.m. on KNIA/KRLS.
