The Knoxville Basketball Squads were swept by Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Tuesday night as heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The girls seemed a step slow all night and fell to the Rockets 59-46. EBF built a 15 point lead at halftime, however, Knoxville cut that lead to four in the 4th quarter, but the Rockets made another run to get the lead back to double figures. Coach Matt Ritchhart told KNIA/KRLS Sports his girls just did not have the energy as they had in past games.

Ritchhart: “Came out very flat, I don’t know if they were physically or mentally tired. We got off to a slow start against Chariton, and we have to figure it out because one of these days a slow start is going to come back and bite you and tonight it did.”

Emma Dunkin led the Panthers with 15 points.

The boys were never in the game as Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont raced out to an 18-2 lead and coasted to a 79-31 win. The Rockets’ size threw Knoxville off all night and caused problems not only inside but also on the perimeter. Jack Bertrand and Landen Norris shared high points honors with six each. The girls drop to 9-6 on the season and 6-4 in the South Central Conference while the boys are 3-11 and 3-7 in the conference. Both teams will host Centerville on Friday.
