The Simpson women’s basketball team survived a scare against Loras Wednesday night on their home floor in American Rivers Conference play 81-74, keeping their undefeated conference record alive while the men fell 81-68. The Storm women battled back and forth with the Duhawks throughout the first half, with the Storm trailing 42-39 at the half, then trailed by as much as seven but went on a 5-0 run to end the third trailing 63-61. After the Storm got the lead early in the fourth, they would make enough shots down the stretch to earn the victory. Anna Wanek continues her strong campaign, scoring 22 points as the Storm are now 16-1 overall and 8-0 in conference play.

The Storm men just could not keep up with the offensive output of the Duhawks despite sticking around for the entirety of the contest, trailing by only five at halftime 34-29 and only being outscored in the second half by eight points. Tajen Ross continued his red-hot start since joining the rotation, scoring 18 points to lead the way as the Storm fall to 4-14 overall and 1-8 in conference play.

Both teams will next play Saturday on the road at Wartburg.
