The Indianola girls and boys basketball teams face off against Dallas Center-Grimes tonight in a doubleheader, with both games having big conference standings implications.
The Indians girls are in a tie with the Mustangs for first place in the conference standings after DCG survived a late comeback attempt by Grinnell on Tuesday to break up a three-way tie, while the Indians will try to solve the problems they faced in their first matchup with DCG, where they fell 48-31 and shot only 22% from the field and were just 5/31 from three-point range. Head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports his squad is prepared for the challenge, and he expects the girls to do what they need to and put themselves in a position to succeed.
The Indians boys have to win to stay alive in the conference race after falling to Pella Christian in overtime on Tuesday, and sit two games back of the Mustangs. In their last matchup, the Indians fell behind early and never recovered from the early deficit. DCG is currently alone in first place with only one conference loss, and an Indianola win puts them within a game of first.
