The Indianola School District is continuing to expand their career-readiness training for either college or work after graduation. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the students get an early taste of that when they create a four-year plan coming out of eighth grade going into high school of what topics they might be interested in and how they view their future, and can take classes accordingly.
“I do think there are a lot of resources out there that we are taking advantage of. We have a great partnership with DMACC and their career academy. We teach a lot of college credit classes right in high school nowadays through concurrent enrollment. I think there are many opportunities for students, not always a four-year degree, sometimes it’s a certificate or a two-year degree, and sometimes it’s right into the workforce. We are attempting to unlock all of those things for our students.”
Sathoff also said the district is constantly looking for other ways to help with career readiness and other classes and partnerships they can create.
