pleasantville-3

Pleasantville’s boys’ basketball squad will look to extend their winning streak to three tonight as they go toe-to-toe with Woodward Academy.

The Trojans are coming off winning their last two games over Chariton and Woodward-Granger. Pleasantville also beat Woodward Academy in the first matchup between the two teams back on December 20, which was a 78-34 win. Mason Scheve in that game had 25 points while Dayson Leerhoff had 14 points and six boards. The Trojans have embraced Leerhoff and Andrew Pender as their second and third scorers on the team behind Scheve. Scheve sits at 1,105 career points, which ranks seventh all-time in points in Pleasantville history. Coach Tom Wilkins tells KNIA Sports that it is important for his team to start out the game fast.

“Getting out to a good start is going to be key. You know, at this time of the season, it would be nice to get hopefully an easy win to rest some of the guys because we got a few dings here and there and it would be nice to get the guys some rest.”

With the win, Pleasantville will eclipse double-digit wins for the 11th time in 13 seasons. Tip-off at Pleasantville High School begins tonight at 7:30 PM.
