indianola-3

The Indianola girls and boys basketball teams face off against the other Indians of the Little Hawkeye Conference tonight, hosting a doubleheader against Oskaloosa.
The #10 Indianola boys had to use an 18-7 fourth quarter to pick up the win against Osky on the road in January, where both teams shot over 40% from long range in a 61-45 victory, and Indianola will need a win to stay behind one game against conference leader Dallas Center-Grimes, who faces off with Pella.

The #4 Indianola girls held Osky to just 27 points and forced 25 turnovers in the first matchup in a 64-27 win, which included winning the second and third quarters by a combined score of 42-13. Head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports he wants to continue to play up to their potential so they are playing their best basketball in February, and this team knows what they have to do to accomplish that.

“We are at our best when we are playing unselfish basketball, and we’ve shown it multiple times this year but we need to be consistently playing like that and not go away from that for minutes at a time. We have a team of best friends and that shows out there on the court when we are playing our best.”

The games can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA and Indianola Activities YouTube, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off at 6:15.
