It’s the final week of Little Hawkeye Conference action, and the Pella girls and boys are headed to Grinnell tonight for a league doubleheader.
The Dutch girls are trying to break two streaks, as they’re 0-5 against the top three teams in the LHC this year (DCG, Indianola and Grinnell) and they’ve lost 10 straight games to the Tigers dating back to 2017, by an average of 18.6 points. That includes a 29-point loss about a month ago in Pella. First year head coach Blaine Forsythe says that they’re looking forward to the opportunity to continue showing the improvement they’ve made this season.
“We’ve made growth against the two ranked teams that we’ve played (Indianola and DCG) and we’re looking forward to doing that again against Grinnell to see where we’re at and making a push as we make it into the postseason.”
On the flip side, Pella’s boys have won 17 straight against Grinnell, and are heavy favorites against a Tiger team that is 0-12 in the conference this season.
Tonight’s doubleheader starts at 6:15 at Grinnell High School. Trevor Castle, Brian Vande Lune and Phil Hemming will call the action, beginning with pregame at 6:00 on the KRLS2 stream at www.kniakrls.com.
