The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday night. They heard a presentation on the fiscal year 2022-2023 recommended budget. The presentation outlined that the property valuation in Knoxville grew nine percent from 2022. It also outlined that there would be no increase in the levy, and that the city is budgeting for continued improvements to downtown, quality of life, and potential staffing needs. They also approved a resolution on the disposing of property for an alley that the city currently isn’t maintaining on the 500 block of Rock Island and Baker Street. The council approved the proposed provisions for the Downtown Facade Grant area to include the full C4 Zoning District and approved a resolution in support of the 3M company tape manufacturing division plant expansion.
