The Norwalk Warriors fell on the road Tuesday to Dallas Center-Grimes (DCG) 64-46 in the girls game and 63-61 in a three overtime thriller in the boys game.

In the girls game, DCG would come out firing, leading by seven after one quarter of play and by nine at halftime. DCG would find their rhythm behind the ark led by sophomore Josie Lampe who would erupt off the bench scoring a team high fifteen points for the Mustangs making four three pointers in a row to push the Mustang lead to nineteen after three quarters of play on their way to the win.

Norwalk Head Coach Jill Martin tells KNIA Sports she was proud of her team’s effort to start the game but knows to win against good teams they have to play tough the entire game.

The loss is the second straight for Norwalk who will next take on Warren County rival Indianola on Friday.

In the Boys game Norwalk and DCG tried their hardest to replicate their previous matchup from January 11th that saw the Warriors fall by six in four overtimes. This time the DCG’s lucky number was three as senior Jacob Runyan would make a clutch three in the third overtime to give the Mustangs the two point lead and eventually the win. The three pointer by Runyan was set up after a controversial traveling call following a defensive rebound by Norwalk senior Vinny Mauro after a miss by Dallas Center-Grimes.

Throughout the game Norwalk would control the pace of play and make the Mustangs play the Warriors style of play but clutch shooting by DCG would keep the Mustangs around long enough to again steal the win from Norwalk.

Norwalk falls to 9-9 overall and will hit the road Friday to face Indianola.
