Marion County Dispatch received a call of a suspicious pickup truck near an abandoned property in rural Pleasantville Wednesday. When the deputy arrived on scene and left his vehicle to approach the truck, it took off and rammed into the rear of the deputy’s patrol car in an attempt to disable it. The pickup was abandoned and recovered by officials in the town of Pleasantville. It was later determined that the truck was stolen from a Des Moines auto dealer. It was also determined that the license plate was stolen. Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt says his team is working to apprehend those responsible.

“This is just one more example of how dangerous law enforcement jobs are becoming throughout the country. I’m going to do everything in my power; with everything within my office to find the individuals involved and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. If any Pleasantville residents happened to see any individuals exit a full sized newer three-quarter ton Chevy pickup near the old school in Pleasantville on Wednesday, please contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 641-828-2220. This would have happened right around 2:30 (in the afternoon).”

No one was injured in the incident.
