The Indianola City Council approved a financial contribution towards the Des Moines International Airport Terminal Expansion project, providing $250,000 over five years. Interim City Manager Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the project is eligible for a grant which requires a local dollar matching amount, and they are asking for a total of $1 million from Warren County overall. Dissell said Indianola will contribute around a total of $50,000 each year, which will be paid for by the budget backfill from the legislature regarding property tax breaks.
“We are using the general fund reserves that are coming in from the legislature backfill to help pay for. We have estimated that as the backfill gets phased out, we have about $250,000 more that will come to the City of Indianola to pay for that.”
Dissell also said as of now, Norwalk is also contributing $250,000. For more information on the project and city funding, click below.
