In a season full of ups and downs, Pleasantville’s girls’ basketball squad ended the season on a sour note as they lost to Central Decatur in the first round of the playoffs, 51-44, a game that was broadcast on the KNIA3 stream at kniakrls.com.
The Trojans led by four at the half, but were outscored in the third quarter 18-5, trailing by eight heading into the fourth. Pleasantville fought back, going on an 11-0 run to cut a 15-point deficit down to four, but were unable to complete the comeback. The biggest bright spot for Pleasantville was Malorie McKinney, finishing with 19 points and setting a school record with nine blocks in the game. McKinney will leave Pleasantville as the school’s record holder for blocks in a game, season, and career. Riley Thill finished second on the team in scoring, knocking in 13 points, with 12 of them coming from beyond the arc.
Pleasantville finishes the season with an 11-11 record, including a 6-8 record in West Central Conference play. The Trojans will graduate McKinney, Thill, Rachel Harvey, Adi Adreon, Rayne Olson, and Darrah Core from the roster.
