It’s been a busy music season for the Knoxville High School Bands. Instrumental Music Teacher Meredith Tipping tells KNIA/KRLS News, the bands have participated in numerous activities this school year.

“We are in the middle of jazz band season right now, our competitive season. We’ve had two competitions so far, kids went and performed at Simpson Jazz a couple weeks ago, we had State Jazz the next day, and then on the concert band side of things this past weekend we had three students that went up to UNI for the Northern Festival of Bands. It was a three-day event. They were with over 300 high school students from across the state including some students from Minnesota and Illinois, and had a really great weekend just getting to meet other students, and play in some master classes, and listen to lobby concerts put on by UNI students, and then the whole festival concluded with their concert on Saturday afternoon.”

The next performance for the Knoxville High School jazz band is Saturday, February 19th at Indianola at 4:12 p.m. The Knoxville choir band next performs on Monday, February 21st at Dallas Center-Grimes to play in the All-Iowa Concert Band Festival.
