The Marion County 4H First Tech Challenge Robotics team, Tacobotics, has advanced to the First Tech Challenge Iowa State Championship. The team is made up of homeschool students, Elayne Harder, Caleb Book, Tom Meinders, Logan Keeney (Keen-ee), Ian Veldhuizen, and Evan Galeazzi. Tacobotics won the “Think Award,” which is given to the team that best exemplifies the engineering and design process through their portfolio and interview. Coach Ethan Book tells KNIA/KRLS News that the team was thrilled to receive the honor.
“We feel really excited, it’s been a tough season. Last year was our first season and everything was remote, and so, this year it’s kind of like we’re rookies all over again because now we’re having meets in person and we have a whole new set of challenges to learn.
Tacobotics will compete at the state championship this Friday and Saturday in Coralville.
