The Indianola wrestling team competed at the State Dual Wrestling Meet Wednesday at Wells Fargo Arena. The Indians fell to Southeast Polk in the opening match 45-26, then just fell short of Bettendorf in the consolation semifinals 33-28, and took down Johnston 51-12 to earn a seventh place finish. Head coach Clint Manny says the dual meet is a test of the teams depth, and credit goes to the coaches up and down the program for getting the athletes ready for this moment.
Bowen Downey went 3-0 on the day at 113lbs, while Isaac Seger at 126lbs, Jake Pontier at 138lbs, Ryder Downey at 145lbs, AJ Pontier at 152lbs, Isaiah Kellow at 182lbs, Walker Whalen at 195lbs, and Cael Crawford at 220lbs all had two wins on the day. Seven Indians are competing at the individual meet beginning today.
