The Simpson College Cheerleading Team is competing at the American Rivers Conference competition soon, after a year of not being able to practice stunts and in-person practices due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Coach Heather Hulen tells KNIA News one of the many things lost during the pandemic was some institutional knowledge from upperclassman to incoming freshman and sophomores, and it hit cheerleading harder than many other sports.
“We are thrilled and it has made everybody appreciate the new sense of teamwork and being able to come together. This year we are excited because not only is the conference having the competition, but we get to go which we haven’t been able to over the last couple of years because we couldn’t practice stunts and other practices because we were virtual. So the team is really excited to go and compete.”
