Indianola junior Drew Kingery dropped 35 points on the Blue Jays of Bondurant-Farrar Thursday evening as the Indians boys basketball team won 67-63, which put him over the 1,000 career scoring mark.

The Indians jumped out to an early 21-6 lead in the first quarter before the Blue Jays mounted a comeback, cutting the deficit down to 21-13 after the first and 34-29 at the halftime break. Bondurant-Farrar continued to play well holding the shorthanded Indians to just 10 third quarter points and went into the fourth with a 44-44 tie, and eventually led 59-58 with just several minutes remaining, but Indianola re-took the lead late and never gave it up, hitting clutch free throws down the stretch. Head coach Jeff Ebling tells KNIA Sports what the Indians gain by playing shorthanded is putting guys outside their comfort zone and asking them to contribute, and they have done that over the last several games.

Kingery needed 32 points coming in to cross the 1,000 career scoring mark. The Indians end their regular season with a 17-4 record, and await the winner of Des Moines East and Urbandale next Friday to begin postseason play.
