A teacher and coach retiring at the end of the school year was recognized for his service to middle school wrestling. Jay Murphy of Pella was selected as the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Junior High Coach of the Year. Murphy is a long time coach supporting wrestlers at Pella Middle School and throughout the district for more than two decades. Murphy is a physical education teacher at Jefferson Intermediate School who elected to participate in the early retirement policy offered by the Pella School Board, and has been with the district since 1993.
