This week is National FFA week, which is celebrated across the country as a way to share what FFA is and the impact it has on its members. Knoxville High School chapter reporter Morgan McKay and Chapter President Ashley Kearney tell KNIA/KRLS about what National FFA week is and what the Knoxville chapter does during the week.

“FFA chapters throughout the whole 50 states celebrate FFA week. A lot of the chapters have different dress up days — we have camo day and pajama day to name a few. Currently we are packaging care packages for local businesses. We do a teacher appreciation breakfast and write thank you notes to the teachers and that’s just a few things we do to give back to our community.”

Ashley and Morgan talk about what FFA means to them

“FFA to me is just a phenomenal organization. It has really helped me develop leadership skills and my public speaking skills.”

“For me FFA means getting involved and advocating for agriculture. FFA has also helped me grow as a leader and public speaker, and has taught me how to advocate and help others.”

National FFA week runs from February 19 – 26.
