The Pella City Council continued round two of the annual budget workshops Thursday evening. The focus for the second meeting included more in-depth discussion about facilities needs moving forward, and what could potentially be addressed in the next five years, including:
– Pella Public Library – $345,000 to $5.3 million
– Indoor Recreation Center – $25 million to $50 million
– Community Center (renovation or new) – $5.3 million to $22.3 million
– Memorial Building Renovations – $300,000
– Soccer Fields – $400,000 to $2.8 million
– Dog Park – $317,000 to $539,000
Further discussion about those projects is expected later this spring. After several departments made presentations to the council for their five-year projections on the first night, Pella Community Services — including the aquatic center and parks departments, the electric department, Pella Fiber, Planning and Zoning, and City Hall all discussed their needs on Thursday.
