melcher-dallas-7

One of the highlight moments of the Melcher-Dallas Girls Basketball Season this year was the return matchup with Murray. The Saints lost to the Mustangs the first time around 55-34 the first game back from Christmas Break. In that game, the Saints committed 21 turnovers and never scored more than nine points in any quarter. Fast-forward eight days later in Murray and the Saints completed a 31 point turnaround in a 51-41 victory. The Saints outscored the Mustangs from the line 15-8, and dominated the boards 32-18. Coach Kelsey Goff tells KNIA Sports the coaching staff had a heart to heart after the first Murray game, and it seemed to change the course of the season.

Goff: “Going down there, and beating them by 10, instead of getting beat by 20 was a confidence booster for them all.”

At that time the Saints were in the midst of a five game winning streak that helped them finish the season eight-and-seven after starting off oh-and-six. Melcher-Dallas finished with an overall record of eight-and-13.
