An outgoing Pella Girls Basketball senior was recognized for her efforts on and off the court. Anna Childerston won the E. Wayne Cooley “You Can” Award. It is awarded by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association in appreciation of the longtime Executive Secretary of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, E. Wayne Cooley.
The “You Can” Award illustrates the qualities of determination, character and the values of Pursuing Victory With Honor.
Anna’s nomination:
“Anna is one of the most dedicated basketball players I have ever had the chance to work with. She spent countless hours in the gym working on her shot and making herself the best player she could be. Anna played JV basketball for 3 years and earned a starting spot on this year’s team as a senior. Anna’s hard work is noticed on the court, in the classroom, and of our community. This past season Anna made a name for herself as one of the best three point shooters in the Little Hawkeye Conference and was a key contributor to the success of our team. Anna influenced our team in a positive way and demonstrates great character in everything that she does as a student-athlete.”
