The Knoxville Girls Track and Field Squad will be in the mix for the South Central Conference title this season. Coach Michael Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Davis County is likely the favorite to win it since the Mustangs have a lot of returning athletes. Splavec says the first part of the season will be used to gauge his team against fellow SCC squads and see where they can score when the conference meet rolls around May 5th.
Splavec: “We’re looking forward to see where we land with the conference schools like Davis County, who is the odds on favorite to win, but we’ll see Centerville, Chariton and Albia and just want to see where they land.”
The Panthers will have home track advantage as Knoxville will host the South Central Conference meet this season and get to show off the improvements made in and around Randy Wilson Track including a new infield turf and resurfaced track.
