The Simpson softball team is off to a good start in The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida, while the Storm baseball team had a record-breaking performance to begin their sunny campaign.
The Storm softball squad went 3-1 in a pair of double headers Sunday and Monday, taking down North Park 10-5, falling to Amherst 4-0, then sweeping their Monday games Washington and Wm Paterson 8-5 and 10-1 respectively. They take on Defiance today at 10:30am, and Wisconsin-Lutheran at 3:15pm.
Brady Held broke a 17-year-old strikeout record as he dominated Beloit as the Storm swept their two games on Sunday. Held struck out 18 of the 24 batters he faced, including the first 11 batters, as the Storm won 3-1 over Beloit, then the Storm saw Colton Major and Zach Hollingsworth combined for 14 more strikeouts to shut out Beloit 3-0. The Storm also defeated St. Norbert 5-2 on Monday, to improve to 5-1 on the season. They take on Farmingdale State today at 5pm.
