A pair of remarkable high school basketball careers came to a close with recognition among Iowa’s best boys’ players for a pair of Pella High School seniors.
Karl Miller and Noah Allen both earned All-State Recognition from the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association in Class 3A. Pella Head Coach Derek Schulte said the two were critical to the success of the program during their time in green and white.
Miller is now a two-time All-State honoree after earning Second Team recognition in 2021, and finished a four-year varsity career with more than 1,000 career points and 188 career three-pointers made. This winter, Miller earned unanimous First Team All-Little Hawkeye Conference recognition. Miller has been invited to compete in the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game on Saturday, March 26th. He figures to be a key member of the defending 3A champion Track and Field champions this spring as well.
Miller joins the following Pella players as a First Team All-State Selection from the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association/Iowa Newspaper Association:
Grant Nelson (2021), Ryan Van Wyk (2016, 2017), Pierce Hibma (2002, 2003), Klayton Korver (2003), Kyle Korver (1999), Kevin Pothoven (1993), Larry Olsthoorn (1976), Gordon Graham (1969)
Allen finished as a 3rd team All-State selection, and was one of the most consistent three-point shooting threats in Class 3A — finishing in the top 10 in makes per game (2.8) and his 68 conversions from deep was 6th most. Allen was a First Team All-Little Hawkeye Conference selection as well. Noah finished his career with 1,054 career points and 193 three pointers made between Newton and Pella. The latter puts him in the top 100 players all-time in deep shots made in IHSAA history. Allen intends to be a multi-sport athlete this spring between track and golf before heading to Mount Marty University in South Dakota to continue his basketball career in college.
