With just one senior on their roster for the spring season, the Pella Christian girls track and field team will be looking for girls to step into leadership roles this season. The Eagles have nine juniors out for track and field this spring, and they will play a large role in helping guide the girls program back to the state meet. Pella Christian Head Track and Field Coach Keith Anderson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that everyone will need to pitch in to help make that happen.
“I think it’s (leadership) going to be a combination of a lot of girls each and every week, each and every practice just being positive, helping those younger girls that maybe haven’t gone through the grind of a spring track meet season like we’re about to have. Just letting them know what to expect, some of the highs and some of the lows, because it’s not always fun when we’re out there running in 30 or 40 degree weather but that’s part of it and you just have to push through. But I really like the positivity that I’ve seen so far. I know we’re early in the season, but I think it’s going to be kind of a leadership by committee with a lot of different girls stepping into that place.”
The Eagles begin their season on Thursday March 24th at Bear Athletic Fitness Center in Grinnell.
