The Knoxville City Council approved the final plat and site plan for the Wright Street Development Monday. Knoxville City manager, Heather Ussery spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the project.

“We started talks about this development in 2019 but due to covid and other factors, it had been placed on hold. In 2019 we rezoned the property on Robinson Street to a Planned Use Development. The developer is Aaron Berkey and we are excited that he will continue this project in Knoxville. There will be two apartment complexes that will have 12 units in each for a total of 24 units, and there will be three townhomes.”

Ussery stated that there are other projects in the works.

“We have a couple of other rental projects coming down the line and we have been told that the waiting list is growing for those as well. Even though we have these projects going I feel there still is a need for rental properties in Knoxville and these townhomes are something new that we haven’t explored in the past and I feel they will be in great demand moving forward.”

With the approval of the final plat and site plan, the Wright Street development can begin.
