The Tulip City track and field teams are back in action today in the Little Hawkeye Conference Indoor Meet at Grinnell College. Pella Senior Gage Huyser was a key member of the 2021 state championship team, and says he’s been excited with the progress the team has made so far during the indoor preseason ahead of next week’s outdoor meets.

“It’s great, it’s been nice to see all of that hard work in the offseason pay off,” he says. “I think my motivation coming off of last year has been miles ahead like it was the year before, I’m just so much more motivated to do better than I did last year, and I think a lot of the incoming guys are feeling the same way, too – they see the improvements people are making across the board and they want to be a part of it too.”

Coming off of spring break last week, Eagles Head Coach Keith Anderson says that he is excited to get the season underway this week.

“As much as I love spring break, and I know kids love it too, it’s just kind of at a time where we are just kind of getting into a routine of training. But I know it’s good for kids to get away, get away from school and hit it for the home stretch these last nine weeks of the school year. So, just excited to get back to it and excited to get back into the swing of things.”

The Little Hawkeye Conference Indoor Track and Field Meet begins at 4 p.m. at Bear Athletic Fitness Center in Grinnell.
