The Pella and Pella Christian track and field teams competed in the Little Hawkeye Conference Co-Ed Indoor Meet on Thursday. No team scores were kept at the meet, but the Tulip City squads were well represented at Grinnell College.

Pella’s Jasmine Namminga and Pella Christian’s Cara Veenstra finished a three-way tie for first in the high jump. The Dutch 4×800 meter relay team of Trey Van Hauen, Wyatt Van Dyke, Chase Lauman, and Josiah Wittenberg won the event with a time of 8:36.61. The relay team of Nolan Clayberg, Luke Fairchild, Cor Huyser and Gage Huyser won the 4×60 meter relay with a time of 36.17. Pella’s girls distance medley relay team made up of Delanie Reynolds, Calla Kerndt, Jacie Trine, and Raegan Snieder brought home a first-place finish (4:34.32). Gage Huyser and Nolan Clayberg finished 1-2 in the boys 60-meter hurdles. Chase Lauman won the boys 1600-meter run. Quinn Gruver finished second in the boys 200-meter dash, Raegan Snieder got second place in the girls 1500-meter run, and Josiah Wittenberg rounded out an impressive meet for the Dutch with a third-place finish in 800-meter run.

For Pella Christian, Trevor Veenstra won the boys shot put with a throw of 46’ 10.75”. In the boys long jump Luke Nikkel brought back a second place finish jumping 19’ 9”. Last season’s four-event state qualifier Levi Schelhaas ran the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.25 seconds, which was good enough for second place in the event. The Eagles 4×400 meter relay team of Danny Andringa, Cooper Spronk, Schelhaas, and Peyton Ritzert finished 2nd with a time of 3:38.78, while Landon Fransman and Drew Geetings finished tied for fourth in the boys long jump.
