The Knoxville school board met in a special session Monday. The board approved a change to this year’s school calendar. The change would move a scheduled professional development day from May 27 to May 31. The council approved the transition of the Little Panther Preschool program to a fully operated school program. Currently, half of the program is run by Stepping Stones Early Learning Center. With this change, Stepping Stones Early Learning Center would hire two pre-school teachers and two associates and would then invoice the costs to the Knoxville School District. The board approved proposed pay rate changes for substitutes for the 2022-23 school year. The changes would see substitutes get paid $110 for a half-day and $160 for a full day. The board approved a resolution for the sale of general obligation school bonds for a total of $790,000. The board set a public hearing for April 11 for the certified budget.
